Itinerary in detail :


Day 1 HANOI / HOABINH / MAICHAU (L/D) (150km – 3h30)

• Pick up at your hotel and drive to the Thai minority village of Mai Chau through Hoa Binh in the heart of Northern Vienam.
• On the way, stop at Song Da reservoir and enjoy a cruise on the lake before a visit to Muong and Dao minorities’ villages and learn about the traditional life of the local people.
• In the afternoon, continue to Mai Chau.
• Lunch en route.
• Dinner and overnight in a house on stilts.

• After breakfast, drive to Son La, home of such ethnic minorities as Hmong, Black Thai and White Thai.
• Lunch en route
• When arriving, visit the Old French Prison and its museum, the Lookout Tower and stroll through villages in the south of the town.
• Dinner on your own.
• Overnight in Son La.

Day 3 SON LA / DIEN BIEN PHU (B/L)  (165km – 5h00)

• After breakfast, depart at 7h00 and drive to Dien Bien Phu through the Pha Din pass and its beautiful landscapes.
• On the way, stop at Thuan Chau market, 40km from Son La, where you will see Black Thai people.
• When arriving, have lunch in a local restaurant before visiting Dien Bien Phu Museum (closed on Monday and Tuesday), A1 Hill, Dien Bien Phu Cemetry, the bunker headquarters of the French commander, Colonel Christian de Castries and the Memorial dedicated to French soldiers.
• Dinner on your own.
• Overnight in Dien Bien Phu.

• After breakfast, drive to Phong Tho along the Nam Na valley.
• At 22 km from Dien Bien Phu, stop in Huoi Chan, in Muong May and then in Lai Chau. Along the way, visit hamlets of Red H’mongs.
• Lunch en route.
• Dinner on your own.
• Overnight in Phong Tho.

Day 5 PHONG THO / SAPA (B/L)  (100km – 2h30)

• After breakfast, visit the local market before driving to the former mountain resort of Sapatamduong.
• On the way, stop at Binh Lu, having a look at the market before enjoying a walk through tea plantations.
• Discover Thac Bac waterfall before arriving in Sapa and checking into the Hotel.
• The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the village of Sapa and its local market on your own.
• Lunch in Sapa.
• Dinner on your own.
• Overnight in Sapa.

Day 6 SAPA (B/L)

• After breakfast, enjoy a full day of exploring Sapa.
• Visit Ta Van village (Zay) and Lao Chai village (H’Mong) where you will enjoy a walk and discover the traditional lifestyle of these friendly people as well as the rural scenery of rice paddies, wooden bridges, and rivers, etc.
• Lunch in a local restaurant.
• Discover Ta Phin (Red Dao village) and if you feel like it, enjoy a 3 hour walk to Ham Rong Mountain to visit an orchid garden and admire the beautiful panorama of Sapa.
• Dinner on your own.
• Overnight in Sapa.

• After breakfast, return to Hanoi through Lao Cai and YenBai (420 km, a 10-hour drive with stops to visit Flower H’ Mong, Nung and Dao villages on the way).
• Lunch en route.
• Arrive in Hanoi late in the evening and transfer to your hotel.
• Dinner on your own.
